Insider Tom Henderson reported that EA refused to develop the network shooter Star Wars: Battlefront 3 because of financial costs.
According to the journalist, if the game was released, the publisher would have had to pay a hefty 20-25% of all revenues to the owners of the rights to the franchise represented by Disney and Lucasfilm. EA bosses considered this not rational, and therefore the company preferred to develop another franchise (Battlefield).
Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was to be created by DICE veterans, who no longer work in the studio.
The information was also confirmed by another reliable source.
The samurai action game couldn't beat out only Helldivers 2 and God of War.
So far, both games are in the early stages of development.
The success of the title is quite expected.
