Microsoft has approved a new project for Ninja Theory Studios. Unlike previous announced games such as Hellblade 3 or the horror game Project: MARA, the developers of Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 are switching to a brand new project. This is reported by Windows Central, citing reliable sources.
Dom Matthews expressed gratitude to the community on behalf of the entire team on May 20, 2024. The developer emphasized that when creating Hellblade 2, the goal was to immerse the player in the world of the protagonist, to cause reflection, emotion and empathy:
I'm confident we achieved that goal, and I hope you'll agree. I'm proud of Hellblade 2, proud of our team, and grateful to you, our fans, for supporting us on this amazing journey.
Some users noticed possible hints of goodbye in the message and began to express concerns about the future of Ninja Theory. These concerns were amplified by the closure of other Microsoft studios, including Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin.
However, Windows Central sources claim that Microsoft has no plans to shut down the team working on Hellblade 2 in the near future. This is also supported by the announcement of the new game's development.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 will be released on May 21 at 11:00 AM MSC. The game will be available on PC and Xbox Series.
