Jean Grey's new appearance has scared off Marvel's Wolverine players

Screenshots from the new build of Marvel's Wolverine game have surfaced online, showing the updated appearance of Jean Grey's character.

Players who previously only speculated that Sweet Baby Inc was intentionally altering character appearances now have facts to back up their fears. They have compared an early character model created by the developers with the one that Jean Grey turned into after, supposedly, Insomniac Games' studio began its collaboration with SIB. And the result looks really unfortunate.

While both screenshots lack proper lighting and the character models are still under development, it seems that Insomniac Games originally intended to create an attractive young Jean Grey. However, in the latest version of the game available, the character has been transformed into an older woman who strongly resembles a transgendered person.

Mark Kern, Blizzard's former head of development, urged users to pay attention to the change in the character model and added that Asian developers can create great characters, but Western studios somehow always run into problems such as "scanning difficulties," "bad screenshots," "poor lighting," and so on. And almost always such games are associated with Sweet Baby Inc.

A heated discussion broke out under this tweet, with most users stating that they were not going to support the game and Sony's promotion if they continued to ugly up the characters. Players agreed with the developer - the changes to Jean Grey's appearance are truly awful. While the earlier model wasn't perfect either, you can see that it could have been improved by the time the game was released, and the current version is an old woman with a square jaw. Users don't understand why Western studios dislike beautiful women so much and don't want to include them in games.

The situation with changing the appearance of characters also commented on the former senior character artist from Rocksteady Studios, Del Walker. He noted that not only white women, but also black women have become ugly in the game industry. Voker suggested several times that black heroines who looked beautiful should be included in the game, but after 10 cycles of character approval, all hints of the original beauty disappeared, causing frustration for the developer.
