Steam breaks records: almost 37 million people online

Steam service broke its own record for the number of online users! On June 30, 2024, 36.92 million people were online at the same time. However, only 11.7 million of them were playing games, and the rest were using Steam in the background.

The most popular games on that day were Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2 and PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. The online surge is likely due to a major summer sale that will run until July 11, 2024.

This isn't the first time in 2024 that Steam has updated its record. In mid-March, the number of online users reached 36.35 million, and massive discounts were in effect then, too.
