Work has begun on the film adaptation of the popular video game series Watch Dogs. Ubisoft, the developer of the original game, announced the start of the filming process.
The main roles in the movie will be played by actors Tom Blythe, known for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Kites and Songbirds, and Sophie Wilde, who starred in Bureau of Magical Services. However, details about their characters have not yet been revealed.
The director of the screen adaptation was Mathieu Turi, who previously directed the thriller Descent into the Abyss. The script was written by Christy LeBlanc (Oxygen) and Victoria Bata (Chemistry Lessons).
The first Watch Dogs game was released in 2014, followed by two more sequels in 2016 and 2020. The series is about hackers, set in fictionalized versions of real-life cities.
So far Ubisoft does not reveal details of the plot of the screen adaptation and tentative dates of its premiere. But the fact of the beginning of filming of the movie on the popular video game franchise arouses interest among fans.
