Russian operators unexpectedly turned on YouTube

Since yesterday evening, video hosting has been working without VPN at Megafon and other companies.
Russian operators unexpectedly turned on YouTube

YouTube has suddenly become available again in Russia. According to the blocking monitoring service GlobalCheck, the video hosting service has started working fully with many Russian telecom operators, including Megafon, Rostelecom, Beeline, MTS and T2. Now users can access the platform and watch videos without the need for a VPN.

This step is especially noteworthy against the backdrop of the recent statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who promised to deal with the slowdown of YouTube in the country. He reported this directly to the CEO of Mosfilm.

Recall that problems with access to YouTube began in Russia at the end of July 2024, when the platform was significantly slowed down. You can find details about these restrictions in our separate article.

Has YouTube already started working for you? Check the availability of the platform and share your experience in the comments.
