Rumor: remasters of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas will appear in the fall

Is Rockstar preparing remasters of classic GTA games? Portal Kotaku conducted its own investigation and claims that we will soon release improved versions of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas
Rumor: remasters of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas will appear in the fall

If rumors are to be believed, video game developer Rockstar Games is close to completing remasters of its classic games Grand Theft Auto 3 from the PlayStation 2, Vice City , and San Andreas eras. The release is scheduled for 2021.

Rumors of potential remasters surfaced this summer as fans wondered why Take-Two's lawyers began churning out a plethora of notices and lawsuits to suspend mods for classic GTA games. Things only got worse when Take-Two confirmed that the company had three unannounced "new versions of previously released games" in development.

Now, according to Kotaku, which conducted its own investigation and used the services of some trusted sources (they have repeatedly provided accurate information on GTA Online and Red Dead Online), the exact games on which remasters are being developed have become known. As mentioned above, these are Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and San Andreas.

According to rumors, the remasters are being developed by Rockstar Dundee (formerly Ruffian Games) on the Unreal Engine. They will offer players a combination of new and old graphics that supposedly resembles a "heavily modified version of the classic GTA". There will also be an update to the user interface. But the gameplay (gameplay) for the most part remains unchanged and true to the GTA era on PS2.

According to Kotaku, the remasters were originally supposed to be a kind of bonus for players who bought GTA 5 and GTA Online for next-gen consoles, but plans have changed, and now, apparently, the titles will be combined into one common digital release. Planned to launch in October for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PC, Stadia, and mobile. However, banal ports are being made for PC and mobile devices, so it is possible that they will be transferred to next year.

These remasters are the beginning of what has been called "Rockstar's renewed interest in their old, classic games." Reportedly, if the remasters succeed, the developer plans to release even more ports. For example, according to the original Red Dead Redemption.
