Right after the Chinese social media leak, Crytek officially announced Crysis 4 . As expected, the developers added that the game is still in "early stages".
During the official announcement, studio CEO Avni Yerli added:
There is still a long way to go before release, but we wanted to announce it now as we look forward to the future and let you know that we will be listening to the gaming community.
We will share more details as we develop. But you should know that our dedicated and talented team is hard at work to bring you the next generation shooter.
It looks like Crysis 4 will appear in a few years, and Crytek is already looking for dozens of new specialists to work on the project. The job listings span multiple disciplines and are right on the bare minimum of detail, but there are some interesting descriptions tucked into the required and desired skills and work experience.
Several jobs mention candidates with a "deep passion for games, preferably first-person shooters with sandbox elements." The original Crysis is known for its partially open-world design, which allowed gamers to take different approaches to the same battles. It was partly a product of its time - such shooters were not common then - but there is no doubt that Crysis has the DNA of a sandbox. Perhaps Crysis 4 will build on this more than recent games.
The Crysis games also had a multiplayer component, so it's not surprising that some job postings mention "multiplayer system design and balancing."
