Against the pleas of many fans of FromSoftware games, the company has added not one, but several poison swamps to Elden Ring. Apparently, the reason is the director of the game, Hidetaka Miyazaki, who simply cannot help himself.
GameInformer interviewed the famous game maker, and at some point the conversation turned to the infamous deadly swamps from the Dark Souls series. Despite the fact that Miyazaki knows the opinion of the public about these locations, the master admits that he has become addicted to creating them again.
While making the game, I rediscovered my love for creating poison swamps. I know what people think about them, but in the process of working it suddenly dawned on me and I realized that I was at the stage of their creation. And I just can't help myself. It just happens.
Thus, FromSoftware not only leaves the toxic swamps that have become canon for their franchise, but also doubles their number. Miyazaki also admits that Elden Ring has a new, much more lethal substance that will cause more problems. It's about the Scarlet Rot, which he describes as "something especially terrible."
