Unexpectedly announced a film adaptation of the cult horror American McGee's Alice

EA's iconic horror classic Alice is getting a surprise film adaptation from X-Men writer David Hayter and American McGee himself.

According to The Hollywood Reporter , Radar Pictures boss Ted Field, who plans to film the game with Abandon Entertainment, has secured the rights to a film based on American McGee's Alice.

The film does not have a release window, as well as the cast and the platform on which it will appear. However, it is already known that the script will be written by the actor who voiced Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid - David Hayter. In a statement, Hayter shared his expectations:

I am very pleased to present this world of madness and chaos to a global audience.

The TV show Alice will be an adaptation of both American McGee's Alice games, the 2000 original and the 2011 sequel Alice: Madness Returns. 1871.

According to THR, the events of the series will unfold after Alice returns from a trip to Through the Looking Glass: her family house burned to the ground, moreover, the girl's parents died in the fire. As in the games, Alice - the only survivor of the disaster - ends up in a psychiatric hospital, from where the White Rabbit urges her to return to Wonderland.

Game creator American McGee said the following:

David Hayter has the imagination, experience and stealth skills gained from his successful participation in other films, TV shows and video games. It's a unique combination that will surely make the Wonderland adventure great for both the franchise and the fans. I am very happy to work with him and I know that Alice fans will meet him with crazy love.

McGee has been working on a sequel to Alice: Asylum for the past few years, which means the series isn't complete. The developer shared the production progress with fans on Patreon. There's no set release date for the new sequel yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to getting back into the crazy, chaotic version of Wonderland.
