In Age of Empires 3 "brought" a co-op

Players of Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition can now team up to experience "story-driven historical events" containing the same gameplay "adapted for a shared experience." Also added are fully voiced dialogues and enemy AI that can successfully counter two players.

Until now, gamers could only enjoy cooperative play in competitive multiplayer mode - there was no co-op in the strategy yet.

In their latest update on Steam , the developers announced that only one of two gamers must have the DLC installed in order to play cooperatively:

New Co-op Historical Battles are now available, bringing a cooperative multiplayer experience to vibrant historical content.

We are very excited to provide you with the opportunity of a cooperative experience that has never happened before! The most pleasant? Anyone can join a player who has the expansion. Even if the second player doesn't have it!

Gamers who purchase the DLC will be able to participate in 12 battles, while owners of the base game will only have access to half of them.

Last December, Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition introduced Mexico, which is considered the "most strategically diverse civilization" in the game.
