KARMA: The Dark World is a first-person psychological thriller set in an alternate East Germany in 1984.
In a utopian world, the Leviathan Corporation exercises total control over society through constant surveillance, a strict class system, and mind-altering drugs. The player assumes the role of Daniel McGovern, a wandering agent of the Thought Bureau, who can enter the minds of suspects to investigate crimes and find the truth.
As Daniel delves into the memories of others, he encounters dark secrets and begins to question the reality of what is happening. The game draws inspiration from the works of David Lynch, Hideo Kojima, and Christopher Nolan, which is reflected in its surreal and abstract style.
KARMA: The Dark World is powered by Unreal Engine 5. It was released on March 27, 2025 on PC and PlayStation 5. An Xbox Series X|S version will be released later.

After waking up, look around. Pay attention to the framed photo, then go to the mirror above the sink and look into it. On the table, you will find note 1/61. The door is locked for now, so go to the window and look at the body lying by the road.
After that, turn around - the door is now open. Exit the ward and head to the calibration room. Sit in the chair and adjust the screen brightness. Go to the next room and select the volume level. In the third room, adjust the field of view.
Proceed to the cultivation hall. Move forward, then turn right. On the right, on one of the devices, there is a note 2/61 - study it. Next, go to the door of the transition room and try to open it. At this point, an unknown person will contact you.
Turn around, pick up the nearest corpse and carry it forward and to the right, to a pile of other bodies. After throwing the body, go into the transition room.
Before sitting in the chair, look around - to the right of the old man there is an object that you can interact with. This is a prize for following the rules 1/15. Your task is to determine which figure continues the sequence. The correct answer is: press the green button. As a reward, you will receive the "Dr. Jurgen Waltz" prize. Now sit in the chair opposite the old man.
Go forward and activate the LAMB cassette. Then, holding LMB, interact with the cubes, and then with the cards. You can choose any options on the monitors, as this does not affect the further passage.
Move forward and talk to Fred Ebert. Before entering the room, take note 3/61 from the board. Go through the door and examine the table on the left, where note 4/61 is. Then leave the office through another door. There are some boxes nearby - look inside them to find a capsule. Open it and read note 5/61. Opposite you will see another capsule, which contains note 6/61 - read it. On the right, in one of the pipes, you will notice a prize for following the rules 2/15. The correct answer is blue. For the correct solution, you will receive the prize "Engineer Wilhelm Puschel". Then go to the pneumatic tube, insert the card into the left slot and pull the levers on the right. After opening the capsule, you will receive a mission briefing (note 7/61).
Take the access card and return to the stairs. Climb one flight, examine the railing and take note 8/61. Go up to the second floor. Move along the corridor to the desk on the right. There is a diary on it (note 9/61) - examine it. Note that there used to be a painting opposite the desk. According to the diary, it depicted a clock - this is the key to the password for Becker's computer. Take note 10/61 from the warehouse. Try using your access card - the door will not open. To get inside, you will need an office manager's ID. Look around next to the desk and the door - there is a telescreen device here. Insert the card into it and examine the three entries. One of them shows a painting with a clock, which says 8:15. This is the password for Becker's desk - enter 0815. The drawer will open, and you will be able to take the access card to the warehouse. Use it to get inside.
On the table to the right you will find a lipstick with playing suits scratched on it: clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades. On one of the shelves lies note 11/61 - read it. You cannot open the red box yet. Move to the left, turn the corner and crawl into the open ventilation. Continue moving along the ventilation shafts until you find yourself in the red room. Turn around and notice an electrical panel with a place for a fuse. Move the fallen cabinet to create a shortcut back.
Enter the spacious office and examine the table on the left. Barbara's diary (note 12/61) lies on it - examine it. The drawer of this table contains the prize for following the rules 3/15. It's already solved, there's no figurine inside, but pay attention: the correct answer is crossed out, and it's the password to Barbara Fisher's desk - 7742. Enter the code to open the box and collect the prize "Rozvita Mokrosh figurine". Now stand with your back to Barbara's desk and move along the left tables. The far table has a panel for entering the password, and on the floor next to it lies a Shawn Mendes plaque. In another part of the office, find a school board - there's a note hanging on it 13/61.
Go to Emily Neumann's workplace. Open the middle drawer and find a lipstick case. In the warehouse, you already found a lipstick with engraved card suits. There is a note hanging above Emily's desk that will help you match the suits and numbers:
These numbers make up the password to Emily's desk - 6843. Enter it to open the drawer and find Emily's diary (note 14/61). From the diary, it becomes clear that Shawn Mendes uses today's date as a password and changes it daily. The entry is dated April 30. Go to his desk and enter 3004. Take the sample and head back. However, you won't be able to return the usual way - the door will be blocked. Instead, a passage on the left will open. Use it and move through the next door.
You will find yourself in a room with tightly drawn scarlet curtains on the windows. Go to the TV, then turn right and find the 4/15 Rules Prize on the chair. Indicate the correct answer - red. As a reward, you will receive the "Legendary Traveling Agent Cooper" prize. Move further along the corridor, and at the door standing on the pedestal, pick up note 15/61. There is also note 16/61 there. Cross this area back and forth several times until a new passage appears behind the TV. Then enter the elevator.
You will find yourself in a laboratory. Remove the voice recorder hanging on the wall, and take the cassette from the table (note 17/61). Go through the next door, go straight along the corridor and pick up the lantern lying behind the bars on the right. Only after this will the path further become accessible. Upon entering the new lab, examine the table on the right and take the tape (note 18/61). Move the gurney to proceed further. At the end of the corridor, there will be another lab room - there is a tape (note 19/61) on the table. After exiting the lab, you will be thrown back. Interact with the monitor and hold the F key. Jump into the pit, move to the tables on the left and take note 20/61.
Go through any available door - you will again find yourself in the room with the family, a TV and a dining table. Find note 21/61 on the table. Then follow the corridor to the left to Grace's room. Pick up the teddy bear with a severed leg (dad) and read note 22/61.
Return to the family and go through the far door leading back to the office. After that, open any door again. Returning to the apartment, examine the table on the right - there is note 23/61. Take the teddy bear (mother) from the chair, and find note 24/61 on the sofa in front of the TV. Move along the corridor and insert the teddy bear (father) into the left hole, and mother - into the right. Look into Grace's bedroom on the right - a small teddy bear will appear inside. Wait for a while until a girl's mannequin with a toy appears in the doorway. Take the teddy bear (daughter) and place it in the third hole.
Now you have to choose the doors in the correct order to exit the maze. If you complete this stage without mistakes, you will receive the "War is Peace" achievement. The correct order:
The correct sequence of words will sound on the phone: war, peace, freedom, slavery, ignorance, strength. Follow the girl until you reach the opportunity to jump into the hole.
You will find yourself in a black and white room. Take note 25/61 from the table. Then go to Grace's room and examine note 26/61. Leave the location until you return to the post office. Sit down and load the collected evidence into the capsule, then leave the institute.
Follow the road. In the open area, where three employees of the Bureau of Thoughts are banging on the door, look in the opposite direction - there is a smoking janitor. Behind him is a prize for compliance with the rules 5/15. The correct answer is blue. As a reward, receive the prize "Janitor Piotr Kowalski". Continue on your way and head to the gate to the left of the scaffold.
After leaving the office, pay attention to the screen on the left to initiate the scanning procedure. If you complete it correctly, you will unlock the "Velvet" achievement. Correct answers:
Go to the hall and move to the right, to the reception desk. Inspect it, then go around to the left to find a prize for following the rules 6/15. The correct answer is blue. As a reward, you will receive the prize "Wandering Agent Sandra Behling". Then enter room 1102, sit on the chair and begin interrogating Shawn Mendes. After the conversation, take the helmet located on the left.
Monster
Approach the
illuminated pedestal to make the box appear and take it. Move through the
office crouched, and after the cutscene, run to the door on the left and go
down the stairs. Once you reach the bottom floor, crawl into the ventilation
duct.
Move through
the ventilation, guided by the light of the garland. At a certain point, you
will be able to turn left - in the dead end you will find a note "Rumors
(ventilation shaft)" and a test on compliance with the rules 7/15 .
Answer: red . As a reward, you will receive a figurine of the writer Simon
Syme .
You'll find
yourself in a room littered with monitors. There are four dog statues in this
room, each holding a note in its mouth: Equipment Disposal Notice , Employee
Diary 01 , Employee Observation Log , and Employee Diary 02 .
Pick up the color-bar TV and carry it to the pile of broken devices in the
corner.
Then return
to the center of the room and stand so that through the open door in the pile
of TVs you can see another open door. Go through it.
Job
Take your
place at work. Your task is to stamp forms. If you do not make any mistakes
during the work, you will receive the achievement "Model Employee"
. To do this, follow the instructions: use the red pad on the right every
three stamps. If the screen starts to get cloudy, put the stamp back in the
center of the circle and take the remedy from the bottle. Continue until the
process is completed automatically.
After work,
take the note "SH-507 Analysis Report" from the TV . Leave the
workroom and in the next room with many screens, find the 8/15 Rules
Compliance Test inside one of the TVs (far right) . Answer: yellow .
As a reward, you will receive the figurine of the clerk Akim Heidelauf .
Move on.
Take the TV out of the freezer and place it on the body of the sitting man.
Then the pursuit will begin - run away from the monster until you return to the
pedestals. Pick up the doll key and use it on the pedestal on the right.
A doll house will appear, which you can interact with. Use the key, talk to Shawn
Mendes , then put the helmet back on. Go to the third pedestal and turn on
the voice recorder.
Exchange
Sean's lab , first examine the table on the
right and pick up the note "Electromagnetism Lab Monthly Plan
3302" . Then turn around and find the 9/15 Rules Compliance Test in
the corner . Answer: Green . As a reward, you will receive the Franz
Sidek botanist figurine . A little to the left, on the wall, is the note
"Improving the capabilities of the control terminal" .
Go to the
computer and insert the card. Now a series of tests awaits:
Afterwards,
try to leave the lab. Activate the terminal to the right of the door, select
the commands and hold E . When the door becomes available, go out into the
corridor. Pick up the note "Institute Notification (Demotion)" from
the bench on the left , then move on.
When the man
and woman leave the room, pay attention to the note "Project Delivery
Document Elevator" to the right of the elevator. Go to the right and
on the table with the phone find the note Wachstum 006 (cassette) . In
the drawer of the same table lies "Old Letter" . A little
further, on the dashboard, is another note "Improving the capabilities
of the control terminal" and the tape Wachstum 007 .
Go to the
code entry panel and enter 2107 - Lucas's date of birth . Take the
C card , insert it into the computer, then view the email and start device 02
(elevator) . Go downstairs.
After going
down, examine the equipment on the left and find the note "Handwritten
note (freezer)" . From the wall on the right, take the note
"Important points regarding the Lucas project" . Go to the end of
the corridor and crawl through the ventilation.
Once out, go
around the tables and grab the axe . Destroy the mannequin, then return
to the figure by the door and destroy it. Continue moving using the run and
hide behind tall objects to avoid being knocked down by the strong air flow.
Nightmare
In the
terminal on the right, pick up the note Wachstum 008 (cassette) and
continue on your way. Go through several doors and watch the cutscenes.
Childhood
Leave the
children's room and find the 10/15 Rules Quiz on the table to the left of
the sofa . Answer: Yellow . As a reward, you will receive a figurine
of toy designer Mustafi Mandel . Sit at the table with your parents, and
then hide in the closet.
Home hall
Find the
hotspot and press LMB to turn on the light. Go to the living room and sit in
the chair opposite Rachel Weisz. Take the lighter from the table and light it.
Begin the interrogation. Put on the helmet. Go to the left pedestal and
interact with the phone.
After
talking to the professor, take the note "Experiment Notes (Lucas)" on
the right. Then place the voice recorder in the pneumatic tube and pull the
lever. Insert the card into the computer and delete the two letters. A cutscene
will begin.
MOTHER
Open the
desk drawer and take the note "Addition Operation". Leave the
nursery, turn left and enter the first room. In the bathroom, on the toilet
tank on the left, you will find a test for compliance with the 11/15 rules.
The correct
answer is red. For this you will receive a figurine of the worker Charlotte
Chaplin. Go to the next room, this is the office. Open the desk drawer under
the desk lamp and take the note "Investigation Report".
Go to your
mother and help her put the plates on the table. Then go to the office and turn
off the radio. Go back, and then go to the parents' bedroom, where you need to
take the bottle of painkillers and put it on the shelf to the left of your
mother.
The tasks
will start repeating. It is not known whether it is necessary to do this, but
try to go into the parents' bedroom and pull back the curtain. Then go to the
study, turn the globe to the right and you will see an eye. In the left corner
of the study (from the entrance), among the scattered books, an interactive object
will appear. Pick it up and place it on the shelf nearby. The books are marked
with Roman numerals from I to IV. Arrange them in order of the year of
publication - 1984. That is, book I - on "1", II - on "9"
and so on. A secret passage will open.
Illusion
Go to the
far room where there is a computer on the table. Pick up the note "Report
on an animal experiment". Find an old camera on the left and interact with
it. Hold RMB, scroll the mouse wheel twice and shoot the eye with LMB to make
it disappear. Then hold RMB again to remove the camera.
To regain
the passage, take out your camera, focus on the eye, adjust the zoom and take a
photo.
Examine the
paper airplane that flies in - it's a note "Newspaper (explosion)".
Return to the previous room, unfold the board and take a picture of the eye.
After that, you will be able to take a picture of the eye on the locked grate.
Once you're
back in the house, turn the globe and take a picture of the eye. Pull back the
curtain in your parents' bedroom and take a picture of the eye on the window.
Head to where the passage to the kitchen was, take out the camera and look at
the eye. Step back and the door to the bathroom will open by itself. Take a
picture. Head to the kitchen, but your mother will no longer be there.
There will
be a knock on the door. Go to the entrance, turn around and see the Mother
monster. A battle with her will begin. If you win without a single defeat, you
will receive the achievement "She is not my mother!" To destroy the
Mother, you need to photograph the eye on her back three times while she is
watching TV. Be careful - she can kill you the moment you use the camera!
To find the
Mother, watch the water under your feet. When she appears, make sure she's
heading towards the TV, then shoot the eye on her back. After the second shot,
the rooms will start flooding (while the camera is inactive). To keep the water
from rising, keep your camera equipped. If you die and want to get the
achievement, reload the last checkpoint. Then leave the apartment.
Go into the
bedroom on the left. There's a painting hanging above the bed. Step back, take
out your camera and take a picture of the eye. Then go into the kitchen and
turn into a small niche on the left where there's a black painting. Set up your
camera and take a picture of the eye.
A new door
will open. Go through it and turn left. Take the torn page from the table and
attach it to the same torn page on the wall on the right. Take the note
"Observation Diary 01". The note states the time - 05:17. Set it on the
wall clock. Look through the hole on the right and hear Rachel talking to the
institute representative.
In the
kitchen, to the left of the sink, find a handwritten note (business). Open the
refrigerator and take out the 12/15 Rules Compliance Test. The answer is
yellow. Get the Wolfgang Parsans veteran figurine.
In the room
with the TV, on the couch, find the note "Leviathan: Weekly Summary".
In the bedroom, on the table, find the note "Job Offer from the Winston
Research Institute". Return to the bedroom before the room with the clock.
The cabinet will be slightly open, with hands reaching out of it. Give them the
letter with the job offer. Take the torn page and use it on the wall in the
room with the clock. Examine the note "Observation Diary 02".
Set the
clock to 07:31 and look through the hole again. Return to the kitchen, take the
handwritten note (new location) from the table. Find the note "Response
from the Department of Veterans Affairs" by the TV. Take the note
"Guest List" on the chair in the bedroom.
Give the
list to the stranger in the back bedroom closet. Take the torn page and place
it in the room with the clock. Study the note "Observation Log 03".
Set the clock to 09:43 and look through the hole again.
Go down the
street, turn into the basement. Examine the table, take the note "Letter
from the building manager" and the key. Before opening room 108, take the
test on compliance with the rules 13/15 on the windowsill at the end of the
corridor.
The answer is
blue. As a reward, you will receive a figurine of criminologist Rachel
Stangerton. Enter room 108 and interact with the letter on the windowsill.
Love
Once in the
building with the chapel, approach Rachel at the gurney. Go forward and remove
the heart from the body. Go back, take a picture of the man's face and go to
the closet on the left. Give the heart to the Wardrobe Attendant. Next, lure
the monster onto the protruding arms and take a picture of his face in the
chest. Repeat the process several times, giving hearts to the Wardrobe
Attendant.
