Supersonic fighters, Japanese military helicopters and the Italian fleet in the War Thunder update

Gaijin Entertainment announces the release of a large-scale update "Starfighters" for the online military action game War Thunder. In addition to the previously announced branch of the Italian fleet - which is more than 20 torpedo boats, destroyers and cruisers, a branch of Japanese helicopters has appeared in it, as well as F-104 Starfighter and Mirage IIIC supersonic fighters.

Finally, cross-platform multiplayer in War Thunder has been made even better thanks to cross-console matchmaking: PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users can now play together in all modes and create squads with their friends regardless of their platform.

The F-104 was developed taking into account the experience of the Korean War, was used in Vietnam by the US Army and was in service with thirteen other countries. Two American and several export ones are available in War Thunder at once.
aircraft modifications. Already the F-104A, the first production version of the Starfighter, is equipped with a six-barreled M61 Vulcan 20mm rotating cannon and can carry two Sidewinder guided missiles. In later modifications, the engine was improved and the range of auxiliary weapons was expanded. In Italy, such advanced machines remained in service until 2004.

Another famous combat aircraft of the same era is the French Mirage IIIC, the first European fighter to double the horizontal speed of sound.mental flight. Moreover, a SEPR 844 rocket booster can be suspended on the Mirage IIIC, further enhancing thrust. The aircraft carries a wide range of outboard weapons including air defense missiles, as well as unguided rockets and bombs. Mirage IIICs were used by Israel during the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and by Argentina in the Falklands War.

The update introduces the first sample of armored vehicles with radar capable of detecting ground targets. This is 9P157 "Chrysanthemum", a Soviet tank destroyer based on the BMP-3. The radars, together with the thermal imager, allow the Chrysanthemum to easily detect enemies and launch two ATGMs simultaneously at two different targets. The Japanese lineup has been replenished with the Type 93, a modern light SUV-based air defense system equipped with eight infrared-guided ground-to-air missiles. For connoisseurs of the exotic, there is a modern Bangladeshi tank Type 69-IIG - a modification of the Chinese Type 69 with additional dynamic protection and an elongated gun.

Dozens of other models of military equipment from different eras and nations will be added in the update. As a result, the total number of real vehicles in War Thunder has exceeded 1,700 units. You can always find detailed information about them on the official website.
