Zendikar Rising Arrives in Magic: The Gathering

For those who don't know, Magic: The Gathering is primarily a tabletop collectible card game with strategy elements, the main feature of which is the presence of the Multiverse. A space in which a variety of game worlds are intertwined, inhabited by colorful characters and telling their own unique story.

Travelers between these worlds are called Planeswalkers. These are magicians with a spark in their chest, able to open portals and move from world to world, taking part in its history. Each subsequent story arc features unique characters that emerge through the release of new card sets.

By the way, the Multiverse of the digital version of Magic: The Gathering, called MTG Arena, has recently expanded. Zendikar Rising takes us to the world of the same name, where we can meet new and meet old heroes. The desktop version will be able to do the same: the print edition of Zendikar Rising will go on sale September 25th.

This is the third return of players to the world of Zendikar: in the past it was destroyed as a result of a conflict between Planeswalkers and an alien entity??ldrazi, but years passed, the universe recovered and gradually began to attract the attention of brave artifact hunters again.

Each new release of Magic: The Gathering adds new story events, mechanics, art, and card sets to the game. Currently, players can expand their deck with boosters, ready-made sets, and random card boxes. Let's figure out how not to get confused in all this diversity!

For newbies

Beginners are advised to use the “Commander” deck. This is a collected and balanced set of cards. It is enough to open the box and you can go into battle. As soon as you get tired of your deck, try swapping it with a friend, using sets with an emphasis on other elemental elementss and, accordingly, to learn completely new mechanics. Zendikar Rising offers two different decks from the Commander category at once. Buy one at a time with your friend, with whom you can exchange cards, thereby increasing replay value.

For seasoned players

And once you get comfortable with the use of ready-made decks, then try to build your own. Here's how to get new cards:

1. Draft Boosters . Buy several boosters, open them right in the store and build your deck from them. And then compete with those who built the deck according to the same principle. Each booster contains one random card from the Expeditions category, which is a reissue of one of the classic cards from previous sets. This is a great addition to an MTG fan's collection!    1. Theme Boosters . A great option for those who need cards of certain elements or mechanics. If they contain in draft boosters?If I am completely random cards, then in thematic sets they are formed according to some specific criterion. For example, a themed set might contain cards that are either green, or red, or some other color. And Zendikar Rising adds a new themed pack, the Squad Theme Booster, which includes cards with the unique Squad mechanic.
2. Release boosters . The set includes up to four rare or mythic cards. At the same time, you will be maximally carried away by the very process of opening the booster. It may include illustration cards that first appeared in Modern Horizons. Every fourth card contains a "List" card, which includes 300 of the most valuable cards in the history of MTG.
3. Collectible Boosters . They include the rarest and most powerful cards. By taking the whole box (display), you are guaranteed to find 12 boosters from the new set and 2 beautiful Expedition cards. Stores that are directly affiliated with the Wizards Play Network may include a Buy-a-Box promo card as part of their display. The number of such cards is limited, and it is impossible to get them in other ways.
