Pets are animals that you tame as you play. They are AI controlled and you can only have one animal tamed manually with the Trainer skill. Tom Kotkins the Cat or Polly the Parrot or Buffalo Farm Buffalo don't count as you get them through quests or special actions. However, just like controlling these characters, you cannot heal them. Their health regenerates over time, automatically, so it's important not to rush or jump from one fight to another. In the event of a mortal wound, the pet will die, and you will not be able to raise it to its feet, as one of the members of the squad.
