Valheim Guide - How to Fish in Viking Survival 2021

The process of survival in Walheim is about fighting monsters, finding the right resources and ways to provide yourself with provisions. And besides hunting wild animals, you can also enjoy fishing!

How to get a fishing rod (where to find)

The fishing rod can be bought from a merchant that appears in a random place in the game world, not far from the spawn point of one of the Valheim bosses, or is guaranteed to be somewhere in the Black Forest. If you are close to him, a “bag” marker will definitely appear on the map.

The fishing rod itself costs 350 coins, and the bait for it from the same merchant will cost you 10 coins (you will receive 50 units of bait). Coins can be searched on the world map, or sold to a value merchant:

  • Amber - 5 coins
  • Amber Pearl - 10 coins
  • Ruby - 20 coins
  • Silver ring - 30 coins.

Fortunately, you don’t have to spend money on a fishing rod all the time. It has unlimited durability.

How to fish in Walheim

Here is a quick guide on how to fish out of a pond in Valheim:

  1. First, make sure your Viking has enough stamina. Without it, the fish will simply fall off the hook.
  2. So, before you go fishing, eat well by choosing any food.
  3. Throw a baited line into any body of water and wait for a fish to land on the hook. Will you understand what happened when you see the stains on top??Water awns. Also, this moment will be accompanied by a characteristic sound.
  4. Hold RMB to make the Viking begin to pull the fish towards him, winding the line. Never release the button!
  5. The lower the water level in the reservoir, the less stamina it will take to fish it out. In addition, in shallow water you can even track the location of the fish.

Once you catch a fish, you can make cooked fish or fish rolls. Both items serve to heal, regenerate stamina, and also heal over time (the effect is short-lived). Handy against bosses!
