How to recruit new soldiers in Phoenix Point

Phoenix Point is a turn-based tactical game inspired by the XCOM series. Below you will learn how to recruit new soldiers for your organization.

The game tells about the emergence of a virtually non-existent organization Phoenix Project, whose members are designed to give impetus to the restoration of mankind after its death from the deadly pandorovirus. However, the task is not an easy one, and one of the most important questions is how to hire new soldiers. The game does not explain this principle well, so we will try to tell you about it in more detail and clearly.

To recruit a new soldier in Phoenix Point, first learn an important technology - "Hideout Recruitment Protocols". There is nothing complicated about it, since it is an early technology. It will take a minimum of time to research it. Especially if you create an additional research laboratory at the beginning.

Then, when examining the map (Geoscope), you will see icons of people near certain faction hideouts (which you have already discovered). This means that here you can hire a new unit. Click on the shelter and select the "Information" column to find out what kind of soldier you can hire (its type).

To get a recruit, send one of the planes to the desired sheltersearch, then select the tab with information about him and click on the "Recruit Soldier" function. It will be automatically placed on the arriving aircraft. If there are no seats on the plane, then the soldier will automatically be at the Phoenix base.

How to hire specialists

There are two types of soldiers you can hire - the regular ones, which you hire in the Hideout Training Center building, and the Specialists, which can only be found in the faction's Hideouts that have an Elite Training Ground. Specialists are soldiers of unique classes for different factions (Infiltrator for the Sanhedrin, Berserker for the Disciples of Anu). There will be an asterisk next to the specialist icon on the map.

Limits on new soldiers

Learning the technology mentioned above is not the only limitation for hiring soldiers. An obvious requirement that you can forget about is that you need resources to recruit. It's about materials, food and technology.

But one more essential requirement is that you need enough living space so that the soldiers simply fit in the base. Residential apartments can be built on the territorytorii of any Phoenix base. Regardless of location, each base makes a total contribution to the soldier limit. The screenshot above shows the 8/8 limit. This means we can't recruit new soldiers right now. We need to build apartments.

Also remember that each soldier consumes 1 unit of food per day. In the Geoscope window you can see all the expenses at the top of the screen. If you cannot meet these conditions, then expect trouble. Luckily, one building that produces food is enough to provide food for 8 units.
