How to get a good ending in Layers of FEAR

So, in order to get the maximum good ending, you need to collect all collectibles (two types - memories in an album and drawings of rats). Maybe one album is enough. To do this, use our guide below.



There are three types of collectibles. The memories that you find - notes and photographs of the artist of their past, fall into the album. You can always view them when you find yourself in our hero's workshop between chapters. On the dressing table on the left is a small diary (album).

Rat Drawings: From time to time in the game you will find sketches of rats. These sometimes terrible caricatures in the future between the chapters can be seen on the left wall (if you stand with your back to the door), opposite the end of the easel.

As for objects from the past, by them I mean those things that you can inspect, and the main character at the same time utters any words. It is impossible to trace these objects: they are not stored anywhere, unlike the memories or drawings of rats.

First chapter

What can be found:

  • Memories in the album - 2 pcs.
  • Drawing of a rat - 3 pcs.
  • Items from the past - 3 pcs.


At the beginning of the first chapter, go forward to the room with the open window. Look through the window and exit the room through the same door. You will find yourself in a corridor. Turn the corner, go to the bright part of the corridor. On the right is a cabinet similar to the one in which you found the first photo in the album. Open the closet and look at the picture of the wife playing the piano. This is memory #1 (1/16) .

Item from the past #1 (1/28) you will find inside the chest in the first chapter. The code from him is 854. All this is described in our walkthrough . After opening the chest, inspect the ring and listen to the words of the protagonist.

When you fall into the basement, then go to the wall, where nearby, in the corner, there is a barrel with a candle. In the wall on the left side of the barrel, find the drawing of a rat No. 1 (1/16) .

Memory #2 (2/16) can be found right here in this basement! Look around and turn on the light near the stairs up. Do not rush to rise above! Go behind the painting near the steps, on the left side, follow the barrel and find the note on the table. It tells that the artist is madly waiting for the birth of his child.

Climb up from the basement, into the room where you have already visited. There is also a deer head hanging over the fireplace. Now there will be a doll on the horns. Exit the room through the same door you used earlier to get here. Follow the corridor, on the walls of which there are paintings. Soon one of the paintings will fall down. Turn it over and look at the sketch of the wife lying on the sofa. This is an item from the past #2 (2/28) .

When you find yourself in a room where a portrait of a man hangs above the fireplace, then inspect the cabinet by the window on the right side. In the upper drawer, under the comb, there is a drawing of a rat No. 2 (2/16) .

Exit the room with the fireplace and the portrait, go through the other door in the room where the window was previously open. In the new corridor, on the windowsill on the right is a comb. Examine the hairbrush - it is an item from the past #3 (3/28) .



Once in the kitchen, open the top drawer on the left side. Find a drawing of a rat No. 3 (3/16) on its left door.

Second chapter

What can be found:

  • Memories in the album - 4 pcs.
  • Drawing of a rat - 1 pc.
  • Items from the past - 5 pcs.

When you are in the corridor, then enter the small room through the ajar door. This room is hung with paintings. There will be a key on a small cabinet. This is all you will definitely do according to the main walkthrough of the game , described on our website. So, take this key and go out into the corridor. Immediately go through the door opposite. You will find yourself in another cozy room, on the wall of which there is a picture of a woman at the piano. Music notes are on a small pedestal (the only piece of furniture in the room). Examine the notes - this is an item from the past #1 (4/28) .



When you go up the stairs to the attic, then move forward towards the window. On the floor, find an old photo of a man and a woman - another memory No. 1 (3/16) .

Go through the room familiar from the first chapter with a deer and a fireplace. Follow immediately through the door ahead (when the deer and the fireplace will be on the left hand). In the corridor, the main character's legs give way. Turn around and see that the room with the deer is now a mess. Go back to the fireplace and see a note on the floor. This note contains the password ! In my case, the password was 729. It may be different for you, but I played the game twice and the password was the same. On the wall of this room there is a safe with an enter button that you need to turn clockwise or counterclockwise. Please note that the code on the note is indicated in numbers, and when entering, you will need to enter numbers, while adding “0” to each digit. For example, if the code is 729, then you need to enter the code 70-20-90. To do this, first turn the handle to 70, then to the other side to 20, then to the other side to 90. That is, each time you need to rotate the handle in the other direction. Inside the safe you will find the key ! After taking the key, return to the corridor where you fell down. Turn left and open the door ahead. In this case, according to the plot, you need to go through the door on the right! In the new room you will see a red chair. There is a note on the floor about March 24 - this is another memory No. 2 (4/16) .

When you are in the hallway, where there is a picture of dogs hanging on the wall, then come closer to the picture and turn right. You will see a cabinet. Open the top right drawer and take out the collar - it's an item from the past #2 (5/28) .

Further there will be a corridor where all doors will initially be closed. Go to the door at the end of it, try to open it, but nothing will work. Turn around and see that the door on the left is now ajar. Go through it and find yourself in a utility room with a bed and other pieces of furniture. A shiny object can be seen on a wooden box - this is the key. There is a small bedside table next to the bed. There are candles nearby - light them, open the nightstand and take out a note about April 4 - this is another memory number 3 (5/16) .



Don't leave this room! Turn to the door and to the right of it you will see another stand with candles. Light the candles, open the top drawer of the table to the right (on the left side of the table, closer to the candles) and take out a photo of a seated man and a standing bride - memory No. 4 (6/16) .

When you return to the corridor, where there will be traces of paint on the floor, then turn left and see that the paint leads to a painting on the wall. Near the picture is still a table with a red vase. Approach the picture and wait for it to distort. A cane will appear in the picture. Examine the cane - item from the past #3 (6/28) .

When you get into the bedroom, where there is a gramophone in the middle of the room, immediately inspect the far cabinet on the right, near the window. Find the violin in the closet - on the second shelf from bottom to top. This is another item from the past #4 (7/28) .

Look at the bed in the same bedroom. To the left of the gramophone is a mirror with a pedestal. In the right drawer of this cabinet, find the drawing of a rat No. 1 (4/16) . True, it is worth noting that the figure will depict a prosthetic leg.

Returning to the workshop, do not rush to click on the easel!!! Approach the wall on which the drawings of rats hang. Under them there is a cabinet with drawers. There is a flask on the cabinet. Examine the flask - item from the past #5 (8/28) .

Third chapter

What can be found:

  • Memories in the album - 2 pcs.
  • Drawing of a rat - 6 pcs.
  • Items from the past - 2 pcs.

At the very beginning of the chapter, leave the workshop and find yourself in a corridor with several directions of movement. Turn left and see a door that is closed with chains and boards. Go to this door and on the floor, among the vases on the right, find a drawing of rats No. 1 (5/16) .

In the corridor where there will be a piano with chains, go to the piano first, and then go back. So it is necessary in any case for the main passage of the game Layers of Fear . Go through the door and examine the built-in wardrobes on the left side. Clothes are hanging in one of the closets. Examine the black jacket on the hanger and inside you will find a drawing of a rat #2 (6/16) .

So, at one point you will find yourself in a locked room with four bare walls. Keep spinning in circles until you find a wide doorway. Go to the hallway with the blinking light bulb, but before reaching the light bulb itself, turn around!!!! In a room where there were no doors before, and this opening just appeared, now there is a new door. Open this door and you will see a doll hanging by the head on a red rope. The doll will have a key . Be sure to take it with you. Turn around from the doll and again go through the corridor with the light bulb. This time, move to the very end, where there will be a glazed passage. Look through the glass, pressing close to it. Turn around and find yourself in this room that was behind glass. In the corner is a table with a table lamp. Approach the table and open the chest located on the floor. Read the note about May 23 - Memory #1 (7/16) .

When you re-enter the four-direction corridor where you were at the very beginning of the chapter when you exited the workshop, then go through the door ahead. For orientation - turn right along the corridor leads to a door with books. One way or another, you will find yourself in a room with an easel and a bunch of graffiti on the walls. Look at the picture and then examine the glasses on the stand below it. This is an item from the past #1 (9/28) .

After a while, you will reach the library. You will go down the stairs into it. She is not big. Shelves with books are placed in a circle, in the center there is a table with white folders. There is a ladder in the far corner. See her? Approach the ladder so as to push it in the other direction. Push it all the way, go up the stairs and take the key lying on the shelf among the books. After going down, go back through the door that you used seconds earlier. Climb the stairs, open the door on the left and take a photo of a woman with a sleeping child from the shelf - another memory #2 (8/16) .

Soon you will be in a corridor where you will need to walk in circles. To the right will be a small bedside table. Stand next to her so that the phone appears. After that, go in the opposite direction, as if counterclockwise. The phone should fall right in front of you, on the floor. Click on the handset - item from the past #2 (10/28) .

Please note that next you will need to open the door, behind which you will first see a ghost ! Open the door again and the ghost will disappear. The room is a mess. There are still black footprints on the floor leading to the left. After entering the room, turn around and press the switch on the left to turn on the light. Turn around and see a table. On the table there is a drawing of a rat No. 3 (7/16) , pinned with a fork.

When you find yourself in the corridor, where the path will be blocked in front, then move the wooden pallet. So you can go further, but you should not rush. On the left side, in front of this pallet and other objects blocking the path, there is a door. Open the door and find yourself in the bathroom. Approach the bathroom with water and click on the water. Soon a doll will pop up, on the stomach of which there will be a drawing of a rat No. 4 (8/16) .

Further you will find yourself in a long corridor with several doors. Go to the very end of the corridor, where you will see a door ahead. In front of this door on the right there is another door with a deadbolt at the top. There is also a light switch to the right of the door. Move the bolt and open the door. Turn on the light with the switch and you will see the utility room. On the right side there are wooden crates. But in the corner to the right of them is a pedestal. Only the top drawer of the cabinet can be opened. So do it. Take rat drawing #5 (9/16) .

When you go down to the basement with the piano, then do not rush to approach the musical instrument! Approach it, but turn right. There are two alcoves here. One of them contains candle holders. Light the candles and take the drawing of the rat No. 6 (10/16) from the wall.

Fourth chapter

What can be found:

First you will be in a room with four doors. There will be a brick wall behind them. Next, the doors will close. All of them are locked. After you turn in a circle, one door will appear. Approach her and turn around. You will see a pattern of fire on the walls. Go to the wall and turn around. Near the same door, on the floor, there is a drawing of a horse - an item from the past No. 1 (11/28) .

Move through this door, approach the teddy bear on the floor and take the cone hat. Examine it so that you look inside and see a black smiley. Another item from the past #2 (12/28) .

You will soon find yourself in a familiar corridor with four directions. Turn left, walk up to the wall and turn on the table lamp. Open the second drawer from top to bottom and examine the drawing of a pregnant woman - memory # 1 (9/16) .

Leave this corridor through the door with a rag tied to the handle. Examine the children's shoes on the table in the far left corner. This is an item from the past #2 (13/28) .

In the room with the cabinet with a mirror, open the right drawer (of the same dressing table). Empty. Open the left and immediately re-open the right. The glass must crack. Get out of it drawing of a rat No. 1 (11/16) .

Leave this room through the door on the right, go right and see a chessboard. Behind her, a checker is lying on the floor by the window. Take the first checker. Now open the second drawer from top to bottom of the cabinet and take the second checker . Find the third checker in the bottom drawer. Click on all of them to make them disappear. When you are in the children's room, then on a white pedestal with shelves in the corner, opposite the door, find a drawing of a rat No. 2 (12/16) .

Leave the children's room, turn left and see the door. You came here through her. There is a sideboard against the wall on the left. Open the lower door and find the gun on the doll - item from the past #6 (17/28) . The door can only be opened by replaying the game, most likely.

Fifth chapter

When you see the hands of the clock spinning at an incredible speed, wait. Leave the room, go through another door and find yourself in the corridor. There is a door at the end of it. But on the left side there is another one, not reaching the last one. Open the door on the left, move the chair and go to the table against the wall ahead. Open the top drawer on the right side of the table and take the note about June 17 - memory #1 (10/16) .

Exit the room and go through the door on the left. At the end of the corridor you will see a ghost. Don't rush to come. When the ghost disappears, then on the floor near the wall on the right, where there is a candle, find a photograph of a house and a woman - memory No. 2 (11/16) .

Go back. Soon you will be in the back room. On the box on the left will be a puzzle. There are three words - rat, dog and cat. There are nine numbers and paths to each from three words. In general, you must find three passwords. Leave this room and go down the corridor to the right. You will see a pile of boards. When the boards stop falling, turn around. A corridor should appear in the opposite direction. If not, then turn back to the boards and look back again. BUT DON'T HURRY!!! A door will open at the end of this corridor. You just rotate in a circle until there is a passage to the left of this corridor - another secret corridor!!! On the left side of the hallway, paintings are hovering. Get closer and they will disappear. Go through the door and you will find yourself in a room with a cabinet filled with bottles. There are drawers at the bottom of the cabinet on the left. Open the right one and take the drawing of rats No. 1 (13/16) .

ATTENTION! You must exit the game to the main menu. Press ESC and leave the game. Next, click on "Continue". You will find yourself in a workshop. Go through the door, move on to the place where there will be falling boards. Turn around from them to see a corridor at the end of which the door is open and light is visible. Go through this door and take a note about July 19 from the table on the left - memory No. 3 (12/16) .

Go through the door ahead and you will find yourself in a ruined corridor. Inspect immediately the wall on the right, before turning. Find drawing of rats #2 (14/16) .

When you go through the opening doors with glass, then go through the door at the end. You will find yourself in a ruined room. Do not reach the broken table and look at the floor on the left. Near the legs of the sofa, find an upside down note about March 23 - another memory No. 4 (13/16) .

Go through the door on the right and see a huge painting. On the right side, near the window is a chest. Open it and examine the dog muzzle - item from the past #1 (18/28) .

After another faint, leave the room and go down the corridor. Turn right and open the door. There will be an easel in a small back room. On its back side hangs a drawing of rats #3 (15/16) .

In the room with a small table in the center, examine the bottle of whiskey - item from the past #2 (19/28) .

When the memory ends, then go down the corridor and to the left, through a small door. Don't turn back and go through the door ahead. Don't turn back and go through the door ahead. For this you will receive an achievement.

In the familiar four-way hallway, examine the drawing on the floor near the broken furniture ahead. You will find brushes - item from the past #3 (20/28) .

Enter the next room where there will be two destroyed chairs. Near the fireplace, on the floor, find a broken palette with paints - this is an item from the past #4 (21/28) .

Next will be a room with a destroyed floor. And yes, it's all destroyed. Find a chest. Inside the chest will be a table clock . Examine them - item from the past #5 (22/28) .

Go out into the corridor and find a mirror on the windowsill on the left - an object from the past No. 6 (23/28) . On the same window sill, you have already found both a comb and women's perfume.

sixth chapter

What can be found:

  • Items from the past - 5 pcs.

After leaving the workshop, turn right along the corridor. Go to the left and you will see that there are columns with candles in the corridor. Behind the second column is a lever!!! Pull this lever to open a secret passage. A niche appeared between the columns in the wall on the left. There is a chest in the niche. Open it by entering the password 906. Where does the code come from? On the table is the inscription: "Did you forget?". If you were attentive, then the year when our hero and his bride got married is 1906. Take the photo of the girl - memory No. 1 (14/16) .

When you find yourself in a room with a painting with a rat skull on its face, then wait for them to fall to the floor. On one of the pictures there will be a dead rat - another item from the past No. 1 (24/28) .

In the room with the mechanism from the elevator, go to the other side of the pit and open the door. You will see a corridor with black tar. Walk forward and turn into the room on the right. The bed will soon catch fire. You will examine the bandages on the bedside table - an item from the past No. 2 (25/28) .

Later, you will find a Ouija board. You can enter A LOT of words on it and see different scenes. Some of these words: FEAR, BEAR, DEER, WIFE, etc. In a nightstand against the wall, not far away, lies a tattered note. In it, you can see the familiar sequence of numbers that you entered in the library on phones. Enter the telephone number (full) on the Ouija board: 363853354. Click on the word YES. The board should explode. Take from the closet in front a photograph with a man and a woman holding hands - memory # 2 (15 / *) .

In the same corridor where you found a comb, perfume and a mirror, on the same windowsill, find a necklace - an item from the past No. 3 (26/28) .

Now go down the corridor from this window sill and enter the room on the right. It is finally open. This is the main character's wife's room. On the dressing table you can see all the previously collected items. On the floor there will be a note dated October 2 - memory No. 3 (16/16) . YOU FOUND ALL THE MEMORY IN THE ALBUM!

Just go to the dressing table with your wife's items and hear a voice - another item from the past #4 (27/28) .

Finally, the last drawing of the rat #1 (16/16) you will find here: when you enter the bright corridor with a wheelchair, everything will suddenly darken. Push the wheelchair to make the location bright again!!! Go through the door ahead. In a small dark corridor with candles in the wall on the left, find the same drawing.

Finally, the last item from the past #5 (28/28) can be found in the next room. Outside the door is the bathroom. Examine the knife lying on the sink.
