Bloomberg editor-in-chief Jason Schreier believes that Activision does not plan to release a new part of the Call of Duty series in 2023. Instead, the company will instruct developers from Infinity Ward and Raven Software to support the new Modern Warfare 2 longer than previous releases.
More specifically, the shooter will receive updates for two years, which is unusual for a franchise. As a rule, the publisher preferred to release a game a year, which led to the failure of Vanguard and angry user reviews. Apparently, after the start of the acquisition procedure by Microsoft, the Activision management decided to revise their strategy in order to stop the pipeline and give fans the opportunity to miss their favorite games.
There is no exact release date for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 yet.
