The album for Guardians of the Galaxy, titled Space Rider, was recorded by Eidos Montréal sound engineer Steve Szczepkowski, sound engineer Johan Boudreau and senior creative director Jean-Francois Dugas. It can be listened to in-game through the Milano jukebox. In the video below, Szczepkowski talks in detail about his brainchild:
According to in-game lore, Quill named himself Star-Lord after his favorite band of the same name.
The album features original soundtracks that "praise the rock and roll and dysfunctional nature of the Guardian family". In the title image of the news, you can even see a rock album poster that seems to take inspiration from the famous shooter from the early 90s and metal albums from the 80s.
Just like the Marvel movie, the game uses several licensed tracks, including hits from Iron Maiden, KISS, New Kids On The Block, Rick Astley and Hot Chocolate . The Huddle function will appear in the settings, which will allow you to choose music during battles. You can press the play button on Star-Lord's cassette player to play your chosen 80s hit.
Guardians of the Galaxy will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on October 26, with a cloud version for Nintendo Switch a day later.
