Tonight, Warner Bros. and Avalanche have released the first gameplay trailer for Hogwarts Legacy , as we covered earlier. He answered a number of questions, including one of the most intriguing ones: the Killing Spell can be used in the game.
The killing spell was invented by dark magicians and witches in the early Middle Ages and is one of the three unforgivable spells. As the name suggests, it instantly and painlessly kills the target. Naturally, this is one of Lord Voldemort's favorite spells. The one whose name is usually not named (we didn’t name it, we just wrote it) tried to use it against Harry Potter in the second part of the Deathly Hallows, although in response to this, Harry uses the Expelliarmus charm, which eventually allowed him to figure it out once and for all with the villain.
In the Hogwarts Legacy trailer, we see the player character cast a Killing Spell on an invisible enemy, leaving no room for speculation about their fate. Without Expelliarmus, this character is definitely dead now. In a game adapted from the novel series, you can stun and disable opponents, but the presence of the Killing Curse means that Hogwarts Legacy will not try to sidestep the darker themes of the source material either.
State of Play also confirmed that the action game is scheduled for release this coming winter.
