Quake is coming to next generation consoles today. News of the remaster being made came days before the official announcement of the game at QuakeCon. This version of the game received visual improvements with support for 4K and widescreen resolution.
There are also improved models, dynamic and colored lighting, anti-aliasing and depth of field. The game contains the original soundtrack, including the theme song by Trent Reznor.
It also includes The Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity expansions, as well as two brand new additions from MachineGames called Dimension of the Past and Dimension of the Machine.
In the Dimension of the Machine expansion, you will find yourself in the depths of a labyrinth and try to find a lava and steel core known as "The Machine". You will fight against time and space to unite the lost runes, power the machine and open a portal that hides "the greatest threat to all known worlds." And it will have to be eliminated.
Free mods and missions can be downloaded along with the game, including Quake 64. We are sure that many other fan-made and official modifications and missions will appear soon.
The base campaign and expansions will be playable online with up to 4 players or via local split-screen multiplayer. And you can also fight with other players in several multiplayer modes.
The remastered version of Quake is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S. There will be a free update for the PlayStation 5 soon, but for now you can play through backwards compatibility. The cost of the title is on average $9.99.
