Wolfenstein 3 may add multiplayer

MachineGames, developer of Wolfenstein, Indiana Jones and the recently released Quake remaster, along with new DLCs, is working on an AAA game that could be the studio's first multiplayer title.
Wolfenstein 3 may add multiplayer

Since Indiana Jones has already announced the project, it is likely that we are talking about Wolfenstein 3 . This will be the first game in the series since 2009 to include a multiplayer mode.

According to the job listing on the Zenimax website, MachineGames is looking for an AI programmer for their "upcoming AAA game." It seems to be standard words, but the most important is hidden in the “Preferred Skills” section, which lists “experience with multi-user bots designed to replace a person.”

With the exception of the co-op Wolfenstein: Youngblood , which was being developed by Arkane Studios ( Dishonored and Deathloop ), the Wolfenstein series has not had a multiplayer component since 2009, when Raven was still working on the franchise. So this will be the first time, provided that this vacancy really belongs to the third part.

There is a possibility that we are talking about the announced Indiana Jones game, although purely hypothetically this option is incompatible with this franchise. On the other hand, it could be a completely new game that has nothing to do with Wolfenstein. Finally, based on the announcement, we can definitely say for sure - we are talking about a multiplayer component as part of a single game, but not about an independent multiplayer title.

In addition, MachineGames is looking for a monetization engineer to ensure "healthy and acceptable monetization" in the new game - be it Wolfenstein 3 or a completely new game, we will have elements of service games anyway.

Adding to the positive is the fact that MachineGames is directly involved in the release of this week's Quake 1 remaster , which also features brand new content. Wolfenstein 3 hasn't been announced yet, but according to Bethesda's Pete Hines, it's "definitely" on the way. But before the release of the game on Indiana Jones, in his own words, “very, very, very” far away.
