Just over a week ago, Realms Deep 2021 announced the full release of a new 3D Realms FPS called Wrath: Aeon of Ruin . As it turned out, now the retro shooter version 1.0 will not be released until 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, switching to working from home could not have a positive impact on the development time. This is largely due to the fact that many developers live at a great distance from each other. As a reminder, right now Wrath: Aeon Of Ruin is available in Steam Early Access.
It's certainly bad news, but 3D Realms doesn't want to leave fans in the dark. Instead of being silent for the last six months, the publisher is committed to releasing various updates every two weeks to keep fans abreast of the development of the project. Don't expect new details or a trailer to be released every time. It can be small pieces of information like “Bug fixed, lighting adjusted, and so on”, but it will appear regularly.
There is no exact release date yet, but it got lost somewhere among the 365 days of 2022. It's also unknown if console versions will be made, but it looks like the publisher will reveal more about them in the coming weeks.
The project is codenamed Half-Life X.
