On the release of Overwatch 2, the servers of the first part will be disabled

On the day the servers of the new Overwatch 2 game are opened for everyone, the original project will be disabled. This was reported by representatives of the studio Blizzard, which does not plan to support both parts of the series at the same time.

Events will take place on October 4, while the sequel will be free for everyone. We are talking specifically about multiplayer, for access to the story campaign (when it becomes available, it is not yet known) you will still have to pay.

The developers will transfer all the content and progress gained in Overwatch to the new game, so that users can not be afraid for their achievements. The only exceptions are loot boxes - they will all open automatically, since this mechanic is not provided for in the sequel (boxes will be replaced with a standard battle pass).
