Stranger Things co-creators Ross and Matt Duffer have revealed when work on the script for Season 5 will begin.
Ross Duffer in an interview with Collider stated the following:
In July we will take a short vacation, but then we will return. I believe the writer's office will open in the first week of August.
While Stranger Things season 5 isn't set to launch anytime soon, it's worth emphasizing that production on season 4 took several (interrupted due to COVID) years. From preparation to production and trailers in 2020, and then to the finished product. The season was in the making for about three years before it was launched on the streaming service. Fingers crossed and let's hope we don't have to wait until 2024 (or more) to see what happens in Hawkins, Indiana.
There was also confirmation that the fifth season would be the series' last, although the Duffers hinted at the possibility of spin-offs, stating:
In the world of Stranger Things, there are many more exciting stories to tell: new mysteries, adventures, the appearance of unexpected heroes.
Earlier Matt added in an interview with The Warp:
We have a season 5 plan and we pitched it to Netflix and they've been great at it. It's still difficult. It's about the end of history. I saw the tears of leaders, it was wild.
