Kena: Bridge of Spirits studio Ember Lab stated that the adventure game is unlikely to have a direct sequel, but it is possible that Kena could become part of a different environment.
In an interview with SoulVision Magazine , Mike and Josh Grier, creators of Kena: Bridge of Spirits, said they weren't sure if a direct sequel would make sense, but instead would rather do "another IP in a similar style, in terms of both gameplay, as well as the presentation of the plot.
This doesn't necessarily mean that Kena's adventures will end at the end credits of the original game, although, as the Griers explain, the title has "a lot of storytelling potential."
Instead, Josh suggested that Kena's story could be adapted and expanded into a different medium, such as an animated series or film.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is one of the highly anticipated PS5 exclusives that was first announced at PS5 Future of Gaming last year. The Pixar-style game was supposed to be released on August 24, but after its release was delayed for several weeks, on the 21st of the current month. The main character is a young Kena, who uses magical abilities to help dead people move into the spirit world. This is not the only purpose of Kena: the girl uses a magic staff, and also collects spirit companions that help her with the destruction of evil enemies.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits will release on PC, PS4 and PS5 on September 21, 2021.
