Gaijin Entertainment announces that the Fire and Ice update for the military online action game War Thunder is already available to players. A branch of Finnish air and ground vehicles has appeared in the game (including its main star - the BT-42 tank), dozens of other types of tanks, ships and aircraft - including the modern American M1A2 SEP tank with the TUSK kit, the legendary Japanese battleship Fuso, the latest Russian anti-aircraft gun 2S38 "Derivation-PVO", as well as two new locations - "Arctic" and "Rocky Canyon". The game also debuted the first samples of tanks and boats armed with flamethrowers, and updated visual effects. Aircraft fuselages now have realistic volumetric holes that complement the local effects of smoke and fires, and the splash when the aircraft hits the water has been redesigned and become even more spectacular.
The British Churchill Crocodile is one of the most famous flamethrower tanks in history. It is built on the basis of the Mk.VII modification with a 75 mm cannon and excellent protection, and instead of a machine gun, the VLD of the hull now has a flamethrower, which is powered from a trailer with fire mixture. Thanks to this trailer, Churchill Crocodile has the highest number of charges of fire mixture among tanks, and also becomes the longest tank in the game. Also making its debut in the game is the American flamethrower boat Zippo, created during the Vietnam War on the basis of the LCM(6) landing craft. Flamethrowers, located on the sides in the bow, will be an excellent tool in battles at close range. Spectacular fires in the jungle can also be provided by the American carrier-based attack aircraft A-1H Skyraider, which has napalm bombs in its arsenal. The three models of vehicles listed are available with the release of the Fire and Ice update as prizes for the new season of the Battle Pass.
Flamethrower tanks are effective in approximately the same situations as the napalm bombings presented in the game earlier. The flame will not damage the crew of a heavily armored vehicle, but light vehicles are extremely vulnerable to it: the fire mixture will instantly destroy the crew in an open cabin and set fire to equipment. Tank installations release long jets of fire under pressure along a hinged trajectory, and they can reach the enemy even behind a small shelter. In addition, the bandages of the rollers of ground vehicles are now ignited by napalm, so after driving through a burning puddle, the player's tank will look very infernal.
The battleship Fuso entered the service of the Japanese Imperial Navy in 1915, was significantly modernized in the interwar period and participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the largest naval battle of World War II. It is this, the latest version of Fuso, that is presented in War Thunder. The main caliber of the ship is six twin 14-inch guns, evenly distributed over the entire deck of the ship. Good pointing angles and no less decent ballistic characteristics of Fuso allow it to inflict colossal damage to its enemies even in combat at long distances, but a full broadside on a single target is especially effective.
2C38 "Derivation-PVO" is an anti-aircraft artillery module with a 57-mm cannon mounted on a modified BMP-3 chassis. The first prototype of the machine was presented in 2018. The uninhabited tower is equipped with an automatic target tracking machine for firing at air targets, a laser range finder, a machine gun coaxial with a cannon, a laser irradiation sensor and a thermal imager. Using the ZUBM22 sub-caliber armor-piercing projectile, Derivation-Air Defense can even deal with a tank if it comes in from the flank.

The graphics in the game have been significantly improved, and the arsenal of combat vehicles has been replenished with dozens of new models - from American F-117A stealth bombers to South African Super Hind helicopters and the British battlecruiser HMS Repulse.
