At the end of April, Blizzard filed a patent application for a new system that will allow the creation of concepts and 3D art in current and future games of the studio. The novelty works on the basis of trained artificial intelligence, which will be able to create graphics based on existing examples.
In other words, artists will have to prepare their work not for further use in games, but so that they serve as the basis for creating a project from AI. Although, if Blizzard only uses this method, it will take a huge amount of time to train the system.
In a word, it is not yet clear how exactly the novelty will be used. We are waiting for official news from the developers.
