Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the next installment in the acclaimed series, coming next year. This is reported by many sources, citing anonymous insiders.
In one of his latest tweets, Tom Henderson, who has repeatedly shared credible Call of Duty and Battlefield leaks, “confirmed” that Call of Duty 22 will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In a subsequent tweet, he clarified his statement by saying, that “I saw illustrations that say Modern Warfare 2. However, the final name of the title may still change closer to release.
Back in September, Henderson made similar claims, suggesting that Call of Duty 2022 could be "the sequel to Modern Warfare 2019," but the project is currently codenamed Project Cortez internally. This information was confirmed in another report, which also stated that the game's campaign would involve special forces fighting drug cartels. Most likely, the official announcement of the game will take place no earlier than next summer.
