The Unity team continues to try to roll back the previous announcement of changes to the monetization policy, smoothing the corners on cooperation with studios. The developers admitted the mistake and agreed with the claims of their partners, who were angered by Unity’s desire to shave money off them for every installation of a game created on the engine.
Among the clarifications of the system, it is indicated that companies will now be able to use different service packages from Unity. In the launch version, the engine will still be free, and game authors will not have to add the “Made with Unity” inscription to their project. The other two packages will include payment for installations (or it will be possible to pay 2.5% of profits), but only if the developers update to a new version of the engine (a patch with the update will be released in 2024).
In general, the attempts are understandable, but trust in Unity, as representatives of gaming companies note, has been irretrievably lost.
The action game also received a content update.
