Warner Bros. and Legendary have confirmed that Denis Villeneuve's sequel to Dune will hit theaters on October 20, 2023.
Dune: Part One is a film adaptation of only part of Frank Herbert's novel, divided into three books. This is a kind of essay that sets the stage for further storytelling. Screenwriter and director Denis Villeneuve even before optimistically stated that the sequel would be approved in any case, but nothing was known about this until a week ago.
And now, on the official Dune Twitter account, the Dune 2 logo appeared with the caption "This is just the beginning", which repeats the line said by Chani.
Screenwriter and director Denis Villeneuve shared his emotions from the approval received:
Just got word from Legendary that we are officially developing Dune Part 2. It was my dream to adapt Frank Herbert's Dune and I want to thank the fans, the cast and crew, Legendary and Warner Bros. for making my dream come true. This is just the beginning."
Since the first Dune movie covers events from the first and second books, it is likely that in Dune 2 we will see a combination of stories from the second and third books. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Villeneuve teased that the sequel would be "more fun" and "cinematic" but didn't reveal anything about the plot or characters.
The success of the title is quite expected.
New heroes, new challenges.
Deadpool's world is dying.
No release date for the adaptation has been given yet.
