Kinopoisk has decided on the rating of the best films of 2023

And no, it's not Barbie.
Kinopoisk has decided on the rating of the best films of 2023

The list of the best films of 2023, presented by Kinopoisk, is based on voting by the site’s editors and its authors and includes 23 films.

At the top of the list was Christopher Nolan's biopic Oppenheimer, which acquired the status of a "sociocultural phenomenon." In second place was David Fincher's film, "The Killer", despite mixed reviews from critics and audiences. The animated film "Spider-Man: Web of Universes" took third place.

Film critic Tatyana Aleshicheva noted that Nolan's main achievement was turning a three-hour talk drama without visual effects into an exciting blockbuster, built on close-ups of faces and eyes. Fourth place went to the comedy “Barbie,” which became one of the phenomena of 2023 along with the film by Christopher Nolan.

Greta Gerwig, the director of the comedy, showed exactly where audiences get hurt and how you can change your behavior by showing generosity and a desire to understand others, noted Kinopoisk managing editor Tatyana Simakova. The top five is completed by the melodrama “Past Lives” directed by debutant Celine Sohn. The top ten also included “John Wick 4” starring Keanu Reeves.
