Even though Battlefield 2042 is set to release on November 19th, Special Edition owners got access to the game a week before release (three days ago). There are already many ratings on Metacritic, and the overall score is, to put it mildly, low.
The PS5 version got the highest score (3.7 out of 10) and the PS4 version got the lowest score (0.9 out of 10). According to gamers, "Battlefield 2042 has gone too far from the standard Battlefield, and now it looks more like a mixture of Apex and Warzone." Many gamers complain about the lack of favorite "chips" from the previous parts. There are also complaints related to poor optimization and bugs.
Okay, I love Battlefield, but this is NOT Battlefield anymore. It's kind of a mixture of Apex, Warzone and maybe a bit of Battlefield. I can already see how in a few weeks they will start milking the players...

Too many bugs in the game. And for this crap you donated BF5? Seriously?
Third review:
I'm shocked at how bad this game is. No scoreboard, 4 guns per class, boring specs, nasty servers, unresponsive controls, one of the worst gunplays in modern games. This game was not ready for release at all.
Fourth review:
This game is completely broken. Maybe in 6 months they will try to fix the problems and do something, but now it is not worth wasting time and money on it. Against the background of this game, even Cyberpunk 2077 looks good.
Despite the negative reviews of ordinary players, critics and journalists rated the game quite highly. Now the average score on Metacritic is about 80/100.
