Skull and Bones trailer, which contains information about the premium edition of the game, has caused outrage among the gaming community. The video, released by Ubisoft a month before the scheduled release, has received three times more negative than positive reviews, with 388 likes and over 1.1 thousand dislikes at the time of writing this post.
One of the main targets of criticism was the offer of exclusive thirty-day access to the game for premium edition holders, which was a disappointment to users given previous postponements of the release. Recalling Ubisoft's director's statement that gamers should get used to the idea of "not owning games," part of the community suggested "pirating" the game about pirates as a form of protest.
Skull and Bones, claimed to be an online pirate action game, was announced at E3 in 2017 and has since been rescheduled several times. The game is scheduled for release on February 16, 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
