It looks like development on the Twisted Metal reboot has been halted

Journalist Jason Schreier reported that Sony has curtailed development of a reboot of the Twisted Metal franchise.

To this, according to the insider, led to mass layoffs of employees of internal companies that were involved in the production. The company Firesprite this sad fate also did not pass by, so wait for the release of the remake of the legendary battle arcade is not worth it.
