The ESRB has given Shadow of the Erdtree for Elden Ring an age rating of "M" (for adults), which is the same as the rating for the main game.
This rating was set due to the presence of violence, profanity, gory scenes, and obscene content in the game. Specific examples include encountering a partially naked humanoid monster that has scars and scaly skin in the chest and pelvic area.
Players will face brutal battles filled with screams of pain and blood splatters, including a scene where the boss cuts off a limb. The game also features collectibles in the form of severed fingers, and one location is decorated with severed hands hanging from the ceiling.
Shadow of the Erdtree add-on to Elden Ring is scheduled for release on June 21, 2024.
