Netflix has decided not to release the Witcher prequel in series format

According to Redanian Intelligence, Netflix has revised its plans for a prequel to The Witcher about the Rat Gang. The project will not be realized in the format of a full-fledged series.

According to the publication, the following variants of events are possible:

• Scenes filmed for the story about the Rat Gang may be included in one of the episodes of the fourth season of the main series "The Witcher" in the form of flashbacks dedicated to this group.
  
• The footage could be used to create a special episode that would focus specifically on the Rats and possibly air before the fourth season begins.

The project about the Rat Gang was originally intended to be a mini-series with six or eight episodes. Filming wrapped in July 2023 and went faster than expected. Dolph Lundgren played one of the roles in the series, presumably a character named Bregen mentioned in the novel Season of Thunder.

The reasons for the change in Netflix's plans for the series about the Rat Gang have not been revealed, as the service itself has not made any official statements on the matter.
