Atomic Heart: 2017's secret trailer reveals the darker side of the game

Studio Mundfish has shared with fans an exclusive gameplay trailer of an early version of Atomic Heart made back in 2017. The video, published in the VKontakte community, shows how much the game has changed since development: the early version was significantly darker and different from the final build.

The trailer shows enemies and weapons that did not end up in the release version of the game. Many gamers have noted that early Atomic Heart resembles DOOM, confirming that the game was originally planned in a more aggressive style.

The existence of this video was known for a long time — in 2021, screenshots of it were leaked to the network. Atomic Heart fans have been looking for the full trailer for years, and now it's finally available.

Atomic Heart was released on February 21, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version can be purchased on VK Play. The Instinct to Exterminate add-on was released in August 2023, and Prisoner of Limbo was released in February 2024.
