The Chinese company NetEase has restored a 15-meter statue of an ax from the popular game World of Warcraft. This is a recreated version of the original statue, which was destroyed in 2023 after the end of the partnership between NetEase and Blizzard.
However, in 2024, the companies entered into a new contract, and NetEase decided to restore the iconic gaming artifact. This July, the replica weapon will be displayed on the Shanghai embankment, and then it will be transferred to the company's park.
For World of Warcraft fans who come to see the statue, NetEase has a special surprise in store - they will be able to receive an inflatable version of the axe. The company plans to distribute 5,000 of these weapon replicas per day.
This restoration of the statue is associated with the release of a new addition to the game - World of Warcraft: The War Within. The update brings a ton of new content to the game, including a story mode for up to five player raids, a new allied race of Earthen dwarves, improved dragon flight, a new battleground, and much more.
