Seven New Game of Thrones Shows Are in Development

Author George R.R. Martin has announced that seven new projects set in the Game of Thrones universe are in production. Of these, four are animated and three are live-action shows. At the moment, all projects are in various stages of development.

While Martin did not reveal details of all the spin-offs, it is known that two of them will focus on Aegon I Targaryen (Aegon's Conquests) and Queen Nymeria (10,000 Ships), and two animated shows will focus on the Golden Empire of E.T. and Corlys Velaryon, aka the Sea Serpent.

The rest of the information about the projects is still being kept under wraps, and their release dates are unknown. There is no certainty that all the projects will make it to release, given that HBO previously canceled a Game of Thrones prequel starring Naomi Watts and put a Jon Snow show on hold in April 2024.

At the same time, Martin emphasized that the seven projects do not include the upcoming series "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight", dedicated to the adventures of Dunk and Egg. The first frame of this show was shown in June 2024.

The final episode of the second season of "House of the Dragon", another prequel of "Game of Thrones", will be released on August 4. Shortly before the premiere, several fragments of the episode leaked online.
