Fans of the series made an effort to encourage Valve to develop Half-Life 3

A few hours ago, the event ended, which gamers called Breaking the Bar. The Half-Life community decided to join forces and gather as many players as possible in order to break the record for the number of simultaneous players online.

The essence was simple: starting from a certain time, everyone who wanted to take part in the promotion had to launch the game on Steam. Well-known streamers who wanted to support the event broadcast Half-Life 2 on their channels. This resulted in a peak online of 16,101 concurrent players with an additional 8,630 viewers on Twitch.

Interestingly, Half-Life 2 is quite an old game. Released in 2004, it does not support most of Steam's features, including data tracking (time spent in game) and number of concurrent gamers. Prior to that, the peak online was 6882 gamers, which means the result was increased by more than 2 times, although we cannot know exactly how many gamers played the second part at the time of release in 2004. Was there 7,000 players then?

This number, 16 thousand gamers, was reached 16 full years after the release of the game. This is not the first such action that has been organized by the community: Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection recently appeared in the SteamDB lists - this is an unfinished mod from the same group that is responsible for Half Life 2: Update.
