Build a Path to Resources
Build a path (X key) from the Old Dreadnought to the nearby Oil and Construction Carts. Create a mining district near the Oil Cart to start mining. Once you have an Oil Source, click on the Old Dreadnought and activate the Furnace to get a Heat Source. Start the Generator in the appropriate tab. Use the pause function to stop time. This is very important and absolutely necessary! Remember to pause whenever you decide what to do next. Especially if you are not sure about the next step! And don't forget to speed up time if you really have nothing to do and would like to wait for the results of research, construction, etc.

Modules are resources used in the construction of districts and buildings. Module mining nodes are marked with an icon with a brick and a log. These are old construction carts.
Build two Residential Districts
Residential Districts are the main tool for providing housing for people. Ideally, you should place Residential Districts near a Furnace or next to each other to reduce the need for heat.
Get Access to Food
Build a Food District in the appropriate areas where there are "berry" icons. While your Residential Districts are being built, work your way north to the fertile soil, indicated by the "plant" icon, and build a Food District. Continue to work your way to the remaining resource deposits north of the Old Dreadnought until you reach the Seal Colony, another important source of food.
Prepare for the Snowstorm
Stock up on food before the Snowstorm hits. You'll need a hefty 40,000 food to survive the storm. If you have access to the Seal Colony, build a Food District to get an additional source of food. Additionally, you can issue an order for emergency shifts in food production areas to speed up the accumulation of food. Or you can order people (click on their icon at the bottom of the screen) to tighten food consumption rates so that it accumulates faster.
Make a sacrifice
If you still haven't accumulated enough food before the blizzard, you can kill the seals in the colony or let the old ones go out into the cold.
Secure Coal and Expand Housing
Build a Mining District. Start by laying a path to a shallow coal deposit and build a Mining District on it. This should allow the New London Generator to turn on. If possible, build the Mining District so that it spans multiple coal deposits.
Build Residential Districts
Build two Residential Districts, preferably in crevices off to the side of the Central District to reduce the need for heat. These locations are also close to the Generator, so the need for heat is reduced even further.
Squeeze the Last Drops
Expand Residential Districts to increase the number of residential homes and unlock building slots. Expanding a district is done by clicking on the district, selecting the icon with four arrows, and three empty tiles.
Make Room for Expansion
It is recommended to lay a path into the areas surrounding the district so that it has room for future expansion. You can't expand a district if there's no free space around it!
Build a Research Institute
Build a Research Institute by opening the buildings panel in the lower right corner (hotkey: N). Click on the Housing tab, select the Research Institute, and place it in the expanded residential district.
The Research Institute unlocks the Idea Tree, which allows you to research new ideas to solve New London's problems and improve living conditions.
Research the Coal Mines idea
Open the Idea Tree by clicking on it in the lower right corner (hotkey: R). Select the Heating tab, click on Coal Mines, and choose between a Dust Mine or a Blast Mine. Both types of Coal Mines will increase the coal production in the mining district you place them in (the district must be expanded for the slot to appear). We recommend choosing the "Blasting Coal Mine" as it does not reduce Manpower (a very important resource early on) and significantly increases coal production.
Build the building you just researched. Open the "Build Building" panel again and select the researched Coal Mine in the "Production" tab. Place it in the expanded mining district to increase coal production.
A place to settle disagreements
Build a Council Hall. Open the "Build Building" panel and select the Council Hall in the "Central" tab. Place it in the Central District to unlock the Council, which will allow you to pass laws that affect the development of the city.
Hold a vote
Open the Council menu by clicking on it in the lower left corner (hotkey C). Hold your first vote. According to the story, you will definitely collect the required number of votes and become the Viceroy of New London.
Find a new source of fuel
Build a Logistics District in a temporary building. There are only three of them on the New London map, and they are marked with a "compass" icon. The Logistics District provides Frost Squads that send out expeditions across the Frostlands in search of resources and other survivors. There are three temporary buildings near New London. In the default camera orientation, they are located north, west, and southeast of the city itself. Expanding the Logistics District gives you more Frost Squads. This allows more teams to explore the Frostlands at once or to deal with more difficult events.
Find the Old Dreadnought. The Old Dreadnought from the Prologue is a new fuel source located west of New London (default camera orientation). Gradually discover areas to the west by sending Frost Squads on expeditions until you reach the Old Dreadnought. Select "We Found Oil" to begin colonizing the Old Dreadnought. Black Gold
Establishing a colony in Old Dreadnought. Now you have to manage both New London and Old Dreadnought at the same time! First, you need to establish a new colony by building the necessary districts and solving its internal resource production problems. Connect New London and Old Dreadnought. To transfer resources back and forth between New London and Old Dreadnought, first connect the two cities with a path. You can click on the icons directly or use the button in the lower right corner. Note that building a path costs resources and takes some time.
Transfer Oil to New London
Once New London and Old Dreadnought are connected, you will be able to transfer most resources (not just oil). Transfer 75 units of oil from Old Dreadnought to New London to complete the chapter.
Build a Generator: Oil Pumps
If you decide to defeat the frost, you will need to upgrade the New London Generator with Oil Pumps. This increases the generator's efficiency in processing oil to produce heat, but has two drawbacks:
Managing Unsanitary Conditions
Unsanitary Conditions can be managed by building Filter Towers, which are placed in Residential Districts, and a Waste Recycling Facility, which is placed in Industrial Districts. Both solutions can be researched under the Filter Towers and Waste Recycling Facilities section of the Resources tab of the Idea Tree.
Research and build Excess Injectors
With the Oil Pumps installed, you can research the next upgrade for the Generator, which enables the use of Excess Injectors. This allows the Generator to burn off excess oil and increase the output of all districts by 15%. Excess Injectors can be researched under the Generator Upgrade II tab of the Heating section of the Idea Tree. You need to find 4 cores in the Frostlands.
Activate the Excess Injectors and achieve a heat surplus. Increase the oil flow from the Old Dreadnought to New London if it is not enough. This should help meet the heat demand during the coming snowstorm.
How to get more oil
There are other sources of oil in the Frostlands:
You can also build buildings that convert coal into oil. These can be researched in the Heating tab of the idea tree. They also increase unsanitary conditions, so make sure you have cleaning solutions ready.
Survive the Snowstorm
Build warehouses to store various resources. Get as much coal and food as possible. It is advisable to do this while you are working on upgrading the generator. If you cannot meet the heat requirements, use the generator boost.
What happens if the cold comes?
Scavenge for resources in the Frostlands. If you decide to embrace the cold, your task will be to explore the Frostlands and find settlements that will become the main source of resources. The New London generator will be equipped with adaptive pumps, allowing you to use any type of fuel.
Find Winterhome
Send Frost Troops to the northeast. Winterhome is located northeast of New London (default camera orientation), just beyond the Gorge. After scouting the area, you'll need to build a path from New London to Winterhome to send settlers there.
Prepare Winterhome for colonization. Stockpile resources and increase your workforce. Colonizing Winterhome requires a huge amount of resources and workforce. Stockpile as many as you can so that New London can operate on its own with minimal supervision. When you're ready, send settlers to Winterhome and prepare for the next chapter.
Stockpile resources by using deposits around the city. If your warehouse is full, be sure to build additional nodes to increase your limit.
Explore the Frostlands for resources
Resources in New London are scarce, so it will be difficult to break even. You will have to explore the Frostlands to find settlements and send resources to New London. You can get more Frost Troops by expanding Logistics Districts and researching and building Logistics Hangars in the Frostlands tab.
Form Guard Troops
While you are gathering resources and exploring the Frostlands, try to gather as many Guard Troops as possible if you haven't done so already. It is also recommended to accept the "Guard Forces" law in the "Laws" tab. Guard Troops will play an important role in the next chapters!
Deciding the fate of Winterhome
When the settlers arrive in Winterhome, you will have to decide whether to rebuild it and settle there or destroy it and take the cores. If you chose to defeat the frost earlier, you should dismantle Winterhome to get the cores (to be consistent). On the other hand, if you decided to embrace the frost, you should settle in Winterhome.
Dismantle Winterhome
You can obtain a total of 40 Cores. If you choose to dismantle Winterhome, you will need to obtain 40 Cores to equip the New London generator with a Hyperdrive Regulator. You do not have to obtain all 40 Cores exclusively from Winterhome. Cores obtained from other locations in the Frostlands also count!
If you have extra Manpower, you can use accelerated ice cutting. This will come at a cost, as people will die due to exposure to toxic gases. You can also research to obtain automated manpower to safely explore the lands around Winterhome.
Return the people back to New London immediately
Immediately remove everyone from Winterhome and return them back to New London immediately after collecting 40 Cores to avoid further exposure of the workers to toxic gas. To do this, click on the Winterhome icon in the upper right corner, select "Send People" and move the slider all the way towards New London. Some districts may be damaged by the harsh environment, indicated by a red circle icon with a crack. Repair them by clicking on the wrench icon when selecting a district, spending Heatmarks.
Research and build the Hyperdrive Regulator
Research it in the "Heating" tab, in the third update of the Generator. Ideally, you can research it in parallel with collecting 40 Cores.
Build in the Central District
After getting 40 Cores, build the Hyperdrive Regulator in the Central District. This is the final update for the New London generator. It will allow you to completely "defeat the frost".
Keep New London cold-free
In practice, you should constantly keep it cold-free. Research ideas and pass laws that reduce the need for heat if you still lack something.
Settle in Winterhome
Found a new colony. If you decide to settle in Winterhome, you will need to turn it into a safe and livable colony by building districts to cope with the toxic gas. This will require additional effort and resources, and will take some time.
