Throwing rocks can be useful in a variety of situations: distracting guards, destroying bird nests, or just annoying the locals. However, the game doesn't explain this mechanic during the tutorial, which can leave many players confused.
By default, the G key is used to throw rocks, but you can reassign it in the control settings. It's important to remember that you won't be able to throw a rock while in a normal stance. To enter stealth mode, press C, then G to throw.
Also, it's worth noting that the rock throwing mechanic is not available in the prologue. It will only become available after you reach the pond and enter the water with Hans.
