How to Find All Pets in AC Shadows

There are several ways to get new pets in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, including the following:

You can find and pet dogs and cats with unique markings that roam the streets and paths of Edo-era Japan. Once you pet these animals, they will automatically be added to your pet collection.

Creating Sumi-e paintings will have a chance to unlock new pets, such as the Copper Spotted Pheasant or Raccoon Tanuki.

You can get unique pets by completing various quests and side missions. For example, the quest “Thrown to the Dogs” (available only with pre-order) unlocks a pet named Tsuki-maru, a friendly stray dog who will become attached to the hero after losing his owner.

Some merchants, including jewelry vendors, offer pets in the “Hideout” section. Keep in mind that these pets can be quite expensive, starting at 560 coins and up.

How to Place Pets in Your Shelter

Now that you have your cute furry companions, the question arises: what to do with them? Unfortunately, they cannot accompany you as companions, but you can invite them to your Shelter, where they will roam freely. Every time you return to your Shelter, all your pets will be happy to see you.

To place pets in your Shelter, simply head to your Shelter, then use the prompt on the Upgrade Shelter screen or click on the mini-village model in Hirome to get to the build menu. In this mode, select Build (on PC - Space, on PS5 - Square) and go to the Pets section. There you will see a list of all the pets you have managed to collect.

To allow them to move freely around the Shelter, select the pet you want to place and move it to any free space in your village (unless it is occupied by other objects or buildings, of course).

Please note that in most cases you can place multiple identical pets, but there are exceptions. For example, you can only have one Tsuki-maru pet.
