The Witcher developers told why they chose the Unreal Engine 5 engine for the next part, and not their own

Pavel Zavodny, Technical Director of CD Projekt RED, speaking at The State of Unreal 2022, explained why the company decided to choose the new Unreal Engine 5 engine for its new game in the Witcher universe, and not its own development REDengine.

According to a representative of the studio, CDPR management drew attention to UE5 due to the fact that, firstly, many companies are already working with it, which are working to improve the system together. Secondly, the use of this technology will allow the company to implement a better and more lively open world.

Jason Slama, the game director of the company, added that UE5 will improve the stability of the game client while keeping many moving elements of their world active at the same time. The full recording of the studio's performance can be seen here .
