A promising retro RPG from the team behind The Messenger was supposed to be out by the end of this year, but something went wrong.
Sea of Stars, prequel to retro RPG The Messenger, delayed until 2023

Developer studio Sabotage posted a message on their Twitter stating that it needs more time to polish and fix bugs.

As we approach a very important milestone, the release of the game, some things become clear... Keeping in mind our two main priorities - the quality of life of our team and the quality of the finished game - we decided that Sea of Stars will be released in 2023.

We understand that we are asking for a lot (more to wait), and we want to sincerely thank our community for the huge support and positive emotions. We are still looking for options that will allow everyone to play the title this year.

With love, Sabotage

While the news of the delay is unfortunate, we appreciate how respectful the team is of the work-life balance of employees while striving for quality. As for the options that allow everyone to play the title this year, we are certainly talking about its demo.

The game was first introduced in 2020 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. It is reminiscent of classic JRPGs like Chrono Trigger, Illusion of Gaia and Breath of Fire. This RPG is a prequel to 2018's The Messenger, inspired by the Ninja Gaiden action game. Sea of Stars tells the story of two heroes who wield the powers of the moon and the sun and fight against an evil alchemist.
