Amazon has launched its first film adaptation of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The company said it has assembled "an elite team of writers dedicated to the franchise" for the project. Control over the film adaptation process was transferred to Henry Cavill, who will also serve as executive producer of the series.
It is not yet known what specific themes will be addressed in the debut film adaptation, and it is not clear whether Cavill himself will play any character. The company emphasized that the release of projects of this scale is expected in two to three years.
Amazon will work with Vertigo Entertainment to bring the Warhammer fantasy universe to the big screen. Vertigo Entertainment is known for its work on the films It and How to Train Your Dragon.
