The Assassin's Creed Shadows trailer has faced a massive negative response, becoming the most nerfed trailer in the franchise. Every YouTube channel where it was published saw a huge number of dislikes. On the official Ubisoft channel, where the trailer collected more than 7 million views, the attitude of viewers was clearly negative: 260,000 likes against almost 600,000 dislikes.
A similar situation was observed on the official PlayStation channel (about 15,000 likes vs. 26,000 dislikes). On the IGN channel, the ratio was even more negative (about 8,300 likes vs. 36,000 dislikes). The conflict around the black protagonist Yasuke also affected another video dedicated to both protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, which had about 29,000 likes vs. 83,000 dislikes with 1 million views.
The criticism is mostly about the choice of Yasuke as one of the main characters. Despite the fact that historical sources point to the real existence of Yasuke, an African who served the powerful warlord Nobunaga Oda, and his presence in the manga and other video games, many players have not accepted him as the protagonist of the new installment of Assassin's Creed.
