Yesterday, GSC Game World, together with the DMarket studio (a service that sells NFTs), announced its own metaverse, as well as NFT tokens for creating unique items. In short, with the help of blockchain technology, GSC wanted to allow gamers to buy some unique part of STALKER 2 . For example, a unique weapon was supposed to appear in the game, which would be produced in one copy, and which players could subsequently resell for real money.
This caused a flurry of negative emotions: in addition to rude comments about the studio, many began to cancel pre-orders, so the developers decided to abandon the idea of using NFT.
The company also announced the creation of "the world's first metahuman." The auction was supposed to take place in January 2022, and whoever paid more would have the opportunity to become part of the game: a character would be created in his image. According to CEO Evgeny Grigorovich, the winner of the NFT auction would have to come to the developers' office to undergo a detailed scanning procedure in order to recreate their own personality in the game.
The developers also wanted to release other NFTs besides the metahuman. Tokens can be sold or exchanged. The developers noted that NFT "will not affect the gameplay and will not provide gaming advantages over other players."
This is an action movie based on Game of Thrones.
